I don’t think that the United States should go into other countries, because if we do, it could potentially result in something bad. I think that we could go into other countries if they ask for help, but if they don’t I think that we should just leave it alone. I think we should leave it alone because we could become enemies with that country, like what happened in Argo. We wouldn’t want that to happen, because we may not be welcome anymore. If they do ask for help, we could end up helping them, and become allies. Unless they ask for help, I think we should just leave it alone.
If we go into other countries like we did Iran and pick the government leader we can create another chaotic country like Iran and create terrorist group like we did in Afghanistan (Taliban) and Iraq (ISIS). We can also get other countries involved and make the country mad like how Iran was at Canada after Argo. I don't think we should because we think it is benefits us as a country when really we are hurting ourselves like in Iran. We have also create terrorist groups that our against us. We should just leave it alone and let the country figure it out by themselves instead of using them for resources. If we didn’t go into Iran we could probably be allies with them and if they ask for help we can help but if they don’t leave it alone.
I agree with what you're saying, but if we didn't go into Iran, we wouldn't be able to trade oil with them because that was the sole purpose to go in. Also, I agree with how they made terrorist groups because of the U.S. intriguing.
The United States should not get involved in other countries policies because it can cost a lot of money and can also take a lot of time to get involved with the government. It can also start up another terrorist group. For example, when the U.S. went into Iraq ISIS came out of it and when the U.S. went to fight against Afghanistan the ending came out with the Taliban. Also a country that the U.S. is going into might be very dangerous because of who they are or what is in that country their going to. In the movie ARGO, they had to be very careful when they were in Iran to make sure they didn’t get caught because Iran doesn’t like the U.S. and if they got caught they could be killed and this could happen if the U.S. goes into a dangerous country.
I really liked how you explained how the Taliban got started, but also tied it into what we are learning! I agree with you because spending a lot of money on something that will most likely not go through is not worth it. I also liked how you added in a part of Argo so it is easier to understand what you are talking about.
The United States must not get involved in other countries policies because terrorist groups could form and other countries may become more powerful (not in a good way). One reason is getting involved can create terrorists. For example, when the U.S. went into Iraq in 2003 and bombed them, they got very angry. It created a lot of hatred toward the U.S. and they wanted to get back at us. Al Qaeda and ISIS got developed after that. Another example is, that that country will have more determination to fight back. According to Washingtonsblog, “Since 2001, the U.S. has undertaken regime change in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya. All 3 countries are now in chaos … and extremists are more in control than ever.” After the U.S. attempted for regime changes in those countries, they were able to create a plan to protect their countries and to get back at the U.S.. That is why the United States should not get involved in other countries policies.
The US should not get involved in other countries politics. Causing a regime change in Iraq was one of the factors in the rise of isis. We kicked out Saddam Hussein which caused the whole country to go insane. We were forced to send many US troops there to keep the country in order. When Obama pulled all the US troops out of Iraq the government was way too weak to keep the country together. This lead to Isis taking over huge parts of land in Iraq therefore gaining more power. Getting involved with Afghanistan's politics lead to the Taliban and the US losing a lot of men that fought for our country. When the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan, the US funded Afghanistan’s government (the Taliban) to take out the Soviet Union. They succeeded but the Taliban turned out to be a very bad government. After 9/11 the Taliban hid Osama Bin Laden from the US. Because of this we sent US troops to Afghanistan for many years. We fought back and threw out the Taliban, but in the process we lost a lot of men who fought for our country. Finally after we gave Reza Pahlavi (The shah who we installed and the Iranian people overthrew), the Iranians rebelled against us demanding that we give him back to them so they could torture him to death. This all lead to the hostage crisis and argo. For all these reasons the US should not get involved with other countries politics.
This was very good and I definitely agree with you. It can be very dangerous for The U.S. just like you said. You used great evidence to back up you claim and you tied it in in really well to the movie and what we are learning in class.
The United States should not get involved with other countries. Nothing but bad things have happened when we go into other countries. For example when we invaded Iraq ISIS formed, and when we invaded Afghanistan Taliban formed. Also if we try to invade any country they could start a war with us. In “Argo” it takes the CIA a while to make the plan and make sure everything is exactly how it needs to be because if they made one mistake it could have backfired on them. Another reason why is because we might make more countries poor. In “The real argo” it shows how Iran was protesting in streets because of the US. “In Iran the new Iraq” it says that Iran blames us for making them weak and we don't need more bad blood with other countries.
I agree with your reasons because I said the samething that every time we have tried to help nothing good has happened. Nice job using a lot of evidence.
The United States must not get involved in other countries policies because it would give us a chance of getting more enemies and can start terrorist groups. Unless they ask for help, I think we should not get involved. We could get new enemies, like what happened in the movie Argo. Doing this can start terrorist groups. For example America got involved with Afghanistan’s politics which lead to the Taliban. Also, when America went into Iraq and bombed them. This event produced a lot of hatred toward the U.S. After the bombing in Iran,ISIS and Al Qaeda were created. Most of our enemies came from getting involved with other countries’ policies. These reasons are why the U.S should not get involved with other countries’ policies.
I agree with you. It would be a big problem if any other terrorist group formed because of our country. I really liked the part where you mentioned how terrorist groups formed.
It would not be a good idea for the US to go into other countries because it can cost a lot of money and use time and resources trying to get involved in the government. For example sending troops to other countries costs money. Also, when we went into iraq and afghanistan we created terrorist groups. In Argo, when the US put the shah into power, he took all of the wealth and power to use on himself leaving the country poor which made the revolutionaries blame us. This resulted in Iran hating the U.S. and a rivalry and hatred between us. Overall, the U.S. must not get involved with other countries policies.
The US shouldn't get involved in other countries because it can cost a lot of money and every time we have tried a terrorist group has formed. When the US tried to help in Afghanistan the Taliban formed as a way to lead the people but they turned into a terrorist group. Also when the United States went into Iraq and bombed them not only did it result in a hatred of America but ISIS and Al-Qaeda were formed. It could also cost a lot of money. Sending troops into another country to try and help with their government can cost the American government a lot of money because of all the resources they will need. These are the reasons why the US should not get involved in other countries politics.
The United States of America 100% shouldn't get involved with other countries policies. First off, look what the U.S. did to Iraq in 2003. They completely crippled their country whilst creating a power vacuum hence causing ISIS(Islamic State of Iraq And Syria). Whilst in this process taking all of Iraq's natural resources. Second off, we've been focusing on Iran. It all started in 1953 when the U.S. made a coup d'tat with our Allie Great Britain and took all of Iran's oil and overthrowing the current government while putting in the Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. This man absolutely crippled the people and used a lot of his money to by very redundant things which made his people poor this led up to....you guessed it! The overthrowing of the Shah in 1979 and leading to the hostage crisis of many United States diplomats. Another example why the United States shouldn't get involved in other countries policies is when the soviets went into Afghanistan and we funded the Taliban which forced out the soviets, but the Taliban then came very corrupt enforcing strict laws on the people and leading the Taliban to causing complete and utter mass destruction.
The US shouldn’t get involved. In “Argo” Tony Mendez had to lie that they were from Canada and hide their identity because Iran hates the US, and they could have gotten killed by the Iranians if they were caught. In addition, when the US gave the shah the power, he took all wealth which caused the Iranians to blame and hate the US. Also, by going into different countries, it can cause terrorist groups to form. For example, when we went to Iraq and Afghanistan, the terrorist groups ISIS and Al Qaeda formed. These are the reasons why the US should not get involved in politics of different countries.
I so agree. Going into other countries, taking over, and giving them a new leader always starts a fight. I really don't think going into the countries is a good idea.
We should not get involved in other countries’ policies because we don’t want to start anything bad or provoke other countries into a war for getting into their business. For example, when the U.S. went into Iraq to capture Saddam Hussein and the U.S. troops left Iraq, ISIS formed. The Taliban formed as well when the U.S. invaded Afghanistan. In addition, when we help other countries, we may not be able to trust them. When Iran barely had a military, the U.S. trained and modeled all of Iran’s military force. They ended up becoming our enemies and using it against us. The U.S. also helped install the Shah who turned out to be a really bad man and wasted Iran’s money. When the Iranians overthrew him, he fled and the Iranians wanted the U.S. to give him back. They then attacked the American Embassy which caused Argo and the hostage problem. Using this information, I believe that the U.S. must not get involved with other countries’ policies.
I do not agree with you because if we don't get into another country's policies lots of people can get hurt if the policy is bad like Iran's nuclear power research and if we get involved we can resolve it and come up with a compromise. If we never got involved with Saddam Hussein then you are right ISIS might not have formed but also Saddam Hussein would still be ruling and still be killing a lot more people and if he wasn't in charge another dictator would have taken his place and also killed more people. If we never invaded Afghanistan more people would have died because of Osama Bin Laden.
The United states should not get involved in other countries’ policies, as all the risks greatly outweigh the benefits of the decision to intervene. The United States has gotten involved in many countries’ issues, and this decision has generated anger to many of the countries involved. Some countries even go to extremes, and cut all of their ties to the United States. Evidence of this, is how Iranian citizens destroyed all things that could be connected to America. They even went as far as to take over the U.S embassy, and take all the American employees hostage for 444 days in 1979. Next, the U.S’ decision to get involved will cause terrorist groups and dictators to rise to power, which will make even more problems for the United States, and the nations located around the country. An example of this, is how the Ayatollah rose to power after the U.S intervened, and he caused Iran to be a bigger threat than it even was in the first place. Finally, the U.S decision to intervene will not be effective, and will waste time and money. Even if the U.S get involves, the country may still continue what it was doing when the American government is not looking. One example where the U.S involvement was not effective, is in Iran. Though the U.S made sure Iran’s economy was crippled, and made it clear what would happen if Iran continued their policies, Iran continued to work on its nuclear program when they thought the American government wasn’t looking. All of these risks are strong evidence of why the U.S should not get involved in other countries’ policies and issues. Today, Iran still harbors hostility towards the U.S, and tensions are still high. Iran also is continuing to advance its nuclear programs, and may even be working secretly behind the U.S’ back. Despite the American government’s efforts, Iran is still continuing all the things that the U.S is trying to stop. In the end, all of these problems would not have been such a huge issue, if the U.S hadn’t gotten involved in the first place.
I completely agree with you and you have a lot of evidence to support it too, but if other countries are creating nuclear weapons that could be a threat to us and the countries around us, we should be prepared and ready to take cover if there is country that decides to fire a nuclear weapon.
I think that we should occasionally with world problems not country problems though because we have our own country and when we invaded Libya to confront Saddam Hussein for having possession of nuclear weapons, we were wrong about the weapons and killed many citizens. We did the same with other countries in the middle east which sparked ISIS and Al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda did 9/11 which was awful but we did start it. According to CNN, ISIS is now a major threat to a lot of the world and has killed too many people. The US is one reason why ISIS started and now we’re still trying to fight that.
I think that Eric had a lot of good reasons and a lot of text evidence. I agree with you that about how the last time we went into Iraq so many people died then 911 happened and none of this would of happen if we invaded. You had other good reasons to.
Describe some of the risks and benefits of the United States engineering a regime change in other countries. Use “Iran the Next Iraq”, “Argo” and the Upfront Article, “What’s the Deal with Iran” to help defend your answer. Many risks took place when the CIA had to rescue the 6 (Former) American Embassy staff which were thought to be spies by the people in Iran. There were many risks involved like being recognized and then sentenced to death which would result in the loss of the 6 that needed to be rescued and 2 CIA operatives.
(Use #4 to help you answer this question) Should the United States get involved in other countries’ policies? Use all the articles you have and additional research to answer this question. Only in certain circumstances like if there are hostages being held or if we or an ally is being threatened with nuclear weapons or other dangerous things.
Though I do not completely agree with your stance on the topic, I understand what you are trying to point out. Though you did answer the question well, you may have wanted to have a little more of an in depth approach when you wrote your response, and you could have added some evidence. Nonetheless, you still did a great job.
I think it is a good idea to get involved with foreign country policies. I think this because some of these policies can hurt US or people around the country and if we know we can make an agreement with the country so that nobody gets hurt. We did this when Iran started producing nuclear power and we made an agreement with them.
very good and I agree for part of it, we should stop it when it's a major problem but we don't need to when it's something small, and by us getting involved we're just causing more problems.
I think we should because we are not taking over but learning about their country. According to wired.com If we would have not taken Iraq or afgahanitan by force but we learned there police we could help them in a none vilient why. If we didn't do that ISIS and Taliban. According to CNN ISIS started when the US took Saddam Hussein out of power.
I think that you made a good argument about learning about the country instead of taking over the country, but the U.S. didn't take over the countries. They just invaded them. I am also confused about whether you want to get involved in other countries' policies or not. Did you want to get involved, put peacefully (or something like that)?
Should the United States get involved in other countries’ policies? Use all the articles you have and additional research to answer this question. NO. THE US SHOULD NEVER GO INTO OTHER COUNTRIES!! We have to mind our own business because in the movie argo the military students scaled the wall and nearly killed 52 people. THey ayatollah came from the shaw not being good. Because of OUR cudeta. 6 people put a WHOLE COUNTRY in danger because of our cudeta. MInd our own business and maybe we won't have to send people fake identities and risk the US’s reputation to save 6 people. Maybe if you don’t the whole middle east plotting against us maybe we will get more business because of this.
I think you make a really good point in your paragraph, but you need more details and text evidence. I think you should use other countries as an example because Iran is not the only country that hates the U.S.
I do not think it would be a good idea for the US to go into other countries. It will not benefit our country because terrorist groups will be against us. It is like when we went to Iraq, isis started. We would not want that to happen again. We could also become enemies with that country. We should just leave other countries alone because we already have a lot and are a wealthy country.
I think that the points that you made are very good and I agree with them. Maybe you should have said that a terrorist group may start, because it also might not. I agree with all of your points though, and I think that you did a very good job.
I think the US shouldn’t get involved in other country's policies/issues. A bunch of bad things in the past have happened because of us getting involved in other country's problems. For example when we went to Afghanistan we created the Taliban by basically giving them weapons. Also, when we went to Iran, we staged a coup d'etat creating a new shah that destroyed the country. We shouldn't get involved with different countries because of the results that have happened in the past.
I think it is a bad idea going into other countries and making regime changes. The risks heavily outweigh the benefits. Every time the U.S. has gone into another country to make a regime change, the country’s government got ruined and a terrorist group formed. Even though in Afghanistan, opium production was at an all time high, Afghanistan as a country got ruined. So with all that, I think it is a bad idea to go into other countries and make regime changes.
Hayden- I think it would be a good idea for the U.S. to go into other countries because they can destroy terrorist groups and help hostages get out of that country. When we destroy them we can get resources such as oil and gold ect.
Your points are good I think it would be good if we could destroy terrorist groups, but I don't think just because we destroy terrorist groups we can get resources.
People in other countries might not want the US being involved in their government and country. For example the US brought in the Shaw thinking he would be a good fit in Iran but he turned out to being one of the most hated men in Iran. Lots of people in different countries want their country to be controlled by their own leaders and not by the US so they can make their own laws and rules and government.
I don’t think that the United States should go into other countries, because if we do, it could potentially result in something bad. I think that we could go into other countries if they ask for help, but if they don’t I think that we should just leave it alone. If they do ask for help, we could end up helping them, and become allies. Unless they ask for help, I think we should just leave it alone.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I also don't think the U.S. should go into other countries and mess everything up and make the country mad like in Iran.

DeleteI think that we should occasionally with world problems not country problems though because we have our own country and when we invaded Libya to confront Saddam Hussein for having possession of nuclear weapons, we were wrong about the weapons and killed many citizens.
ReplyDeleteI think that Eric had a lot of good reasons and a lot of text evidence. I agree with you that about how the last time we went into Iraq so many people died then 911 happened and none of this would of happen if we invaded. You had other good reasons to.

ReplyDeleteDescribe some of the risks and benefits of the United States engineering a regime change in other countries. Use “Iran the Next Iraq”, “Argo” and the Upfront Article, “What’s the Deal with Iran” to help defend your answer.
ReplyDeleteMany risks took place when the CIA had to rescue the 6 (Former) American Embassy staff which were thought to be spies by the people in Iran. There were many risks involved like being recognized and then sentenced to death which would result in the loss of the 6 that needed to be rescued and 2 CIA operatives.

DeleteI think it is a good idea to get involved with foreign country policies. I think this because some of these policies can hurt US or people around the country and if we know we can make an agreement with the country so that nobody gets hurt. We did this when Iran started producing nuclear power and we made an agreement with them.
ReplyDeletevery good and I agree for part of it, we should stop it when it's a major problem but we don't need to when it's something small, and by us getting involved we're just causing more problems.
DeleteYou did a good response but you didn't have any examples or sources. There is one piece of evidence but it doesn't have a source.
DeleteI think we should because we are not taking over but learning about their country. According to wired.com If we would have not taken Iraq or afgahanitan by force but we learned there police we could help them in a none vilient why. If we didn't do that ISIS and Taliban. According to CNN ISIS started when the US took Saddam Hussein out of power.
ReplyDeleteI think that you made a good argument about learning about the country instead of taking over the country, but the U.S. didn't take over the countries. They just invaded them. I am also confused about whether you want to get involved in other countries' policies or not. Did you want to get involved, put peacefully (or something like that)?

ReplyDeleteNO.
DeleteI do not think it would be a good idea for the US to go into other countries. It will not benefit our country because terrorist groups will be against us. It is like when we went to Iraq, isis started. We would not want that to happen again. We could also become enemies with that country. We should just leave other countries alone because we already have a lot and are a wealthy country.
ReplyDeleteI think that the points that you made are very good and I agree with them. Maybe you should have said that a terrorist group may start, because it also might not. I agree with all of your points though, and I think that you did a very good job.

ReplyDeleteI think you response is good but maybe you should add more details. Also I think you should have examples.
DeleteI think the US shouldn’t get involved in other country's policies/issues.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a bad idea going into other countries and making regime changes.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you it's not smart, only in some small occassions and we should mind our own business, we have our own country
DeleteHayden- I think it would be a good idea for the U.S. to go into other countries because they can destroy terrorist groups and help hostages get out of that country. When we destroy them we can get resources such as oil and gold ect.
ReplyDeleteYour points are good I think it would be good if we could destroy terrorist groups, but I don't think just because we destroy terrorist groups we can get resources.
DeleteYou make very good points. I definitely agree, but you might need to go into more detail and add some more info. Great points though.

ReplyDeleteReally good example. I agree with your claim. Maybe you could have added more example and overall more detail.
DeletePeople in other countries might not want the US being involved in their government and country. For example the US brought in the Shaw thinking he would be a good fit in Iran but he turned out to being one of the most hated men in Iran. Lots of people in different countries want their country to be controlled by their own leaders and not by the US so they can make their own laws and rules and government.
ReplyDeleteReally good! I agree with you claim. I think you should add more examples.
