Now that we have studied two very different countries but with similarities concerning human right violations, I want you to connect the experiences the Lost Boys had in Sudan to the current state of North Korea.
Human's rights in both south sudan, and North Korea are very bad. For example the standard of living in North Korea is very low and only the very privileged have actual homes. also they don't have healthcare in North Korea so basically if you become sick in North Korea you are done. And south sudan was a war-torn state that couldn't fund very much and didn't have any electricity.
Both North Korea and South Sudan are always in a lot of danger. In South Sudan they always have to be careful wherever they are because they could get shot or hurt very badly. In North Korea they are ALWAYS watched. They only know about what’s happening in their country and they don’t know the truth about anything. In both countries everyone is very scared. They are scared that they will do something wrong and if they do they will receive bad consequences. They know to never give up and stay as positive as they can until they are safe again.
Both of these people in both countries have to deal with a lot going on around them and with them. Both of these people that live in North Korea and Sudan are going through a lot and have had very tough times that they had to work through. However the Lost Boys have made a big inspiration on the world today, they taught us to never give up and always stay positive. On the dark side North Korea has not made a good inspiration to others and is making a bad influence on them, so when people look at North Korea they see terror.
Both of the countries have a lot of human rights problems. In North Korea everyone is being constantly watched and they don't have a lot of health care. Also in Sudan while the Lost Boys were leaving they were very poor and also because the country was so war torn there were very few places they could find food, water, and health care. Also both of the countries have almost no electricity.
Both of these people had two go through suffering, the lost boys getting shot at and their homes taken away and the koreans have two live in fear every day. All of the lost boys had two take journeys the lost waked thousand of miles two kenya and the some of the koreans took the journey out of korea and into south korea and china. Both of these people went through so much two get two safety manys families died on the prosas.
The experiences are the same and very different. In North Korea there is little food, a strong leader and a very poor country. In Sudan there was a group of leaders, very little food, a poor country and a life of living in the nature. Some thing they both have in common though is, it is very hard to get out. There is/was many soldiers stopping escapes in both countries, but it is possible and people have done it in both.
Now that we have studied two very different countries but with similarities concerning human right violations, I want you to connect the experiences the Lost Boys had in Sudan to the current state of North Korea. The lost Boys and the people of North Korea face many challenges. Both the lost boys and the people of North Korea live in fear of their leaders. The lost boys were constantly trying to avoid the soldiers from the North. In the book we read it shares an example of a boy who got his hair ripped out by one of the soldiers and had to hide in a pond in order to stay alive. In North Korea people are constantly living in fear of their leader. They are constantly bowing down to him and worshipping him. They know that if they don't do this they are putting their life at risk. Also both groups of people suffer from bad health care and food shortages. Many of the lost boys starved to death and got many different horrible diseases. The people of North Korea also suffer from starvation and horrible health care. The lost boys and some of the people of north korea escape their homes. The lost boys were forced to run away from their homes when the soldiers from the north attacked their villages. Some of the people in North Korea realise how horrible their country is and attempt to escape into a different country but they usually don't succeed.
Both the economies and people are in danger in South Sudan and North Korea. The GDP of south sudan is 1,044.99 USD and North Korea is 1,800.00 USD. THis shows that their GDP is bad and their economy is bad. In South Sudan around 3 million people are currently going hungry. In North Korea 2.5 million people died of hunger. This shows that the people are in danger.
The lost boys were trying to find a home and many North Koreans are trying to get out of North Korea. The Lost Boys were trying to get away from war, but North Korea is making war by building nukes. The lost boys didn't have guns or weapons, but North Korea has a lot of nukes and guns. North Korea and South Sudan are both being faced with economic problems. Both countries have a lot of poverty and homeless people.
In North Korea they have little to no food just like the Lost Boys had on their journey. The Lost Boys also had no electricity or any devices to help them and North Korea has that but they don’t know how to use it and the have very limited electricity.
The Lost boys had no electricity, just like North Korea has limited electricity. North Korea doesn't have much food, along with the Lost Boys who barely had any food to eat on their long walks and journeys. The Lost Boys were also very poor like North Korea.
The people in Sudan and North Korea had to face many challenges. The Lost Boys had a very tough challenge. They had to escape from their homes and had to be careful about not getting caught. They also had to walk a lot, and had a limit on food. The citizens in North Korea have to live with the fear of Kim Jong Un, and if they don’t like him, there could be many punishments, including death. Also, in North Korea you have no access to the outside world and no internet. These two groups of people had to face many challenges.
They are both two very different countries with both with many problems. The experience that the Lost Boy and the people in North Korea share is that both trying to escape the country with nothing and get to freedom. In both countries you have to be careful of what you do there because in Sudan you can get badly hurt or even killed. While in North Korea you are always being watched doing one wrong thing you are a goner. People from both countries have tried to escape, but some ended in disaster. The countries are similar because of the lack of food and health care. Many people in Southern Sudan did not make it because of the lack of food and the diseases spreading because of lack of health care. North Korea not only has bad health care, but already with the lack of food they had a famine and most people in that country does not have food. Southern Sudan and North Korea are both failing countries that are trying to push through their problems.
The experiences of the citizens of North Korea and the Lost Boys are very similar. The Lost Boys of Sudan and the people of North Korea were both put in a very hard life with a lack of food. Also, both of them were/are put in a lot of danger because in North Korea if they or someone in their family does one thing wrong, they can end up in jail, and in Sudan the lost boys had a constant fear and danger of getting shot and killed. Another comparison is that they both have bad living quality. The lost boys were left with nothing and very poor, and the North Koreans are constantly being watched and do not have sufficient health care.
Both of these countries have horrible living conditions. The Lost Boys were in great danger every single second of their lives either it was from starvation, disease, soldiers, raiding tribes etc. In North Korea the citizens are watched every second of their life and even any minor offense can land them in prison or a labor camp where they can be killed. Another thing they have in common is that both North Korea and Sudan were very isolated from the outside world not having knowledge of practically anything.
The way people have to live in Sudan and North Korea is terrible. In Sudan, there is no technology. People have to hunt for food and there are no phones or anything electrical. In North Korea, there is very limited technology. There are no phones or computers and the only high tech things are in hospitals. Also North Korea is so separated from the rest of the world and does not know what is going on. In Sudan people have no way of knowing what is happening because they have no technology.
Overall, in both settings, civil rights are disregarded, or even nonexistent. In North Korea, citizens live in constant fear of punishments, that can even lead to death. In South Sudan, the Lost Boys always had to worry about being caught by the North Sudanese, and other hostile groups. Also, both countries are extremely poor, and unable to support those who live there. In North Korean, citizens have to deal with starvation, poor healthcare, and a fragile economy. It is the same way in South Sudan. In the end, both South Sudan, and North Korea, have many similarities, which include the inhabitants living in fear, and the country's shrinking economy.
In North Korea you have no rights, and in Sudan there were no rights either. Human Rights were pretty much forgotten about. The Lost Boys had to worry about being caught and captured by the Sudanese and North Koreans have to worry about doing whatever their told, otherwise they go to jail camps.
They are both scared because in North Korea if you do something wrong you are arrested and with the lost boys if they do something wrong. Also the standards of living are very low. In Sudan they are very war torn and in North Korea they don't even have electricity all the time. Both countries have very bad standard of living and are scary.
Human rights for the Lost Boys and North Korea is not good. The Lost boys were always careful because the north could attack them at any time. In North Korea, people have to watch how they act because the government is constantly watching them and could arrest them at any time. Also there is not much food in North Korea and many North Koreans grow hungry. The Lost Boys had no food and had to trade for food or find tribes willing to give them a little food.
Human's rights in both south sudan, and North Korea are very bad. For example the standard of living in North Korea is very low and only the very privileged have actual homes. also they don't have healthcare in North Korea so basically if you become sick in North Korea you are done.
