Cool Costa Rica

I have been learning about Costa Rica. It is a democratic republic government. That means the power is from the people, and the government is run by elected officials. The government is made up of the president, two vice presidents, and the members of the Cabinet. The president has a four year term, and is elected by the people, who have to be eighteen or older. I also learned about the education. There are public schools in every neighborhood, which you have to wear a uniform to. Kids go to elementary school for six years, and high school for five to six years. The first two years of high school are for education, the next two or three are provided for special training. Food in  Costa Rica is very important. One popular breakfast food is gallo pinto. Gallo pinto is a meal with rice, black beans, sour cream eggs, and fried bananas. A popular lunch meal is casados, which is rice with beans, meat or fish, fried bananas, white cheese, and a corn tortilla. Arroz con pollo is a popular dinner meal. It is chicken and rice. It was very cool and interesting researching Costa Rica!

Not Iphone, Iraq

                  The country I chose was Iraq. Iraq is a country in Asia surrounded by Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Turkey. Iraq is quite a diverse country. First off they have a horrible economy. I think this because they had many wars and one is going on with people from their own. Those people formed a group called Isis. I think that I would be easier to fight them if they had more money. Their GDP is $14,100 while US GDP is $54,629.5. They also only make about 77.7B from exports and America makes 1.42T. They also have a Prime minister and a President while America has 1 president. The Prime minister has 2 assistants and is in charge of the government while the president is in charge of the state. Iraq also has the Parliament which is similar to the congress but the People on the Parliament has people serve for 4 year when people on the Congress can serve for 4-8 years. In my opinion I think this is a bad idea because then there would be new people each year meaning no experienced ones. One of the most important times in their history was when the dictator, Saddam Hussein, was president because he caused the Iran-Iraq war which cause quarter million deaths and billions in money. He also killed many people because of their race and if they didn't listen to him. These are some of the reasons why I decided to choose Iraq.

Democratic Republic of the Congo

   The Country I chose was the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is in the middle of Africa and is surrounded by land except for a tiny bit of land that borders the Atlantic Ocean. 

   What I learned about the DRC (Democratic Republic of the Congo) Is that Education is an important part, most parents encourage their kids to go to college! I also learned that the DRC's government type is Republic and the President is Joseph Kabila. One of the most interesting facts was in the health/sickness category, the first known case of Ebola was in the DRC and Ebola was actually named after the Ebola River. One last thing I learned about the Democratic Republic of the Congo is that Copper is their main export. I think that the Democratic Republic of the Congo is a cool place and was very interesting to study!

This Blog IS RAEL

For my project, my country is Israel which is located in the middle east. I have learned a lot more about my Jewish culture by doing this project and I found a lot of the research interesting. Israel also has six years of elementary school and goes to high school. However, it's very unlucky because after that they are forced into the military for 2-3 years! Isn't that insane?! It's not fair because they could die there or have mental trauma if there's some kind of war. It could make you stronger by training though if there's need to protect people. After the military the kids normally go off to college but that's their choice.
I also have learned that Israel is a lot more fortunate than a lot of other countries and has a prime minister and a president to run Israel. We don't have a prime minister but it's good to have a constitution and a president. Their president is Reuven Rivlin and the prime minister is Benjamin Netanyahu.
Israel has a lot of holidays like Hanukkah, Rosh Hashanah, Passover, Yom Kippur, Ramadan, and many more. I'm a Jew so I celebrate a lot of holidays but they probably get bigger feasts, more presents, it's sometimes I wish I lived in Israel.

My country is Switzerland. Switzerland is a country located in Europe and is surrounded by Austria, France, Germany, and Italy. It’s a small country that is very diverse! It was in wars against France, Austria, and themselves. Switzerland has always been a strong army force. They fought many wars over and a few over power. In 1315 went to war with Austria, Austria was ten times their size! The Swiss still beat them! Then after a great loss against France Switzerland lost all of their ideas to "expand". So, Switzerland declared its neutrality. In Switzerland Yodeling is a classic form of music. It was always a part of their culture. There is a dance called color guard where they wave and throw flags, sabers, and fake wooden rifles. In Switzerland schools start at the age of 6 and is free until age 15. The school levels are Primary (elementary), Secondary (middle), and Gymnasium (high school). Gymnasium is the prep to University (College). One of Switzerland's leaders is President Simonetta Sommaruga. She is the third female president in their history. That is super awesome! Switzerland is a cool country because they have had three female presidents, were a great army force but still became neutral, they yodel as a music, and dance while throwing things in the air. This is a few of the many reasons Switzerland is an awesome country.

Ireland’s rich history consists of mythology, religion, and much more. Ireland’s government also uses a constitution which states their independence from Britain, freedom of religion, and other laws to help keep the government fair and just. It is also amended to keep the constitution up to date and fair, based on changing times and opinions. Ireland’s citizens enjoy many fun sports throughout the year. Horse racing is a favorite activity to watch.  One of the best places for watching horse racing is the Irish Derby,  which is well known to fans around the world. Between delicious foods, beautiful landscapes, a rich history, and fun sports, Ireland is one amazing country.  Next time you want to go on vacation somewhere new, make sure to add Ireland to your list, because you will definitely enjoy your time there.

My country, Belize is located in Central America.I learned that belize is a very interesting place and a very small place they get around. Belize food is good and looks good their are taco vendors everywhere. Belize Prime minister is Dean O Borrow. Belize people wear many different types of clothes like for girls skirts, dresses, and pants and shorts for girls are becoming for popular. Boys usually wear shorts and a t shirt. Boats, bicycles , and walking are three major ways to get around Belize. Belize has a national soccer team and that is their favorite sport. Fotbul as they call it is very popular in Belize, they also like other sports such as basketball, track and field, cricket, and cross country. Belize was a very amazing country to learn about and I would love to go there someday.

Zambia is a country in southern Africa.
My country is Zambia. Zambia is a country in southern Africa. I loved working on Zambia and I learned so much. I learned about their sports education and many other things. Zambia has a president, Edgar Lungu and he runs just about everything just like president Obama here. Zambian education is also different than in the U.S. Most parents can only afford to have their oldest boy and no one else. I bet you wished you lived in Zambia if you aren’t the oldest!  They have many cultural beliefs and are very high on education. Zambia has many universities and every village Zambia has their own soccer team. Soccer is the most popular sport in Zambia and most Zambians love it. Soccer is much more popular in Zambia than in the U.S. Also in Zambia almost everyone wears skirts. I bet most boys here wouldn't like that.  Zambia is a very interesting a fun country to learn about.

My Country is Colombia the capital is Bogota. Colombia is found in South America. Colombia is a beautiful country  with a rich history. Over the past few weeks I've been learning about the economy, the Government, the History, Religion, and daily life. I have had a good time  learning about Colombia there sports teams are great and have a lot of bad and good history in sports. I am presenting about all the 8 traits of culture. The president of Colombia is Manuel Santos he leads the democracy. in Colombia It is illegal to take or traffic drugs. In My presentation i talk about  how  Colombia got its Independence from Spain.  also talk about Colombia's drug history.  One of my Pins are about Colombia's National soccer team who came in 5th in the world cup. Where there youngest player won the Golden bout which is given two whoever scores the most goals over the tournament. I also talked about Andres Escobar a soccer player on Colombia who was killed by the horrible drug lord Pablo Escobar. Overall I think you enjoyed my presentation  about colombia and I hope you learned a lot .

Personally i think that Mozambique is an interesting country. I like their newly elected president Filipe Nyusi. Although the Renamo called the votes fraudulent, i like his political views. I also like their flag. Even though it is almost identical to the Frelimo flag that was used during the fight for their independence it looks a lot different and it represents different things. I get that the triangle represents Mozambique’s struggle for independence but is a gun and an axe too violent for a flag? Anyways, I think that their clothing is unique in many ways. The colorful hand-sewn cloth that the women wrap around themselves. The Marrabenta pulse also interests me, It shows a lot of Mozambique's culture.

My country is Italy. It is in Europe. I have learned a lot about Italy. I learned how Italy is different and very similar to the US. I liked learning about Italy's customs and ways of living. Italy has many similar holidays as the US does this includes New years, Christmas, Easter and more. Italy has different things as well. For example the Italian government has no vice president and the president has to be fifty years or older to be elected. Italy has many things that you won't see in other places. One of the smallest countries in the world is in Italy, that you can't see in other places. Italy has similar sports as the US. The most popular sport is football (soccer). It is very competitive and everyone goes crazy when it comes to game day. I really enjoyed learning about Italy and the fun festivities of it.

I researched the culture and heritage of Jamaica. Jamaica is an island in the Caribbean Sea, but is part of the North American continent. It is a very musical country full of arts. I think that the best part about Jamaica is the reggae music! Reggae is a type of music that originated in Jamaica in the 1960’s and is made up of a beat that uses the drums, an electric guitar, a bass guitar, a piano, and a scraper. A really famous reggae singer in Jamaica is Bob Marley. You’ve probably heard of him or some of his music such as Don’t Worry Be Happy and Is This Love. Also, did you know that Jamaica was once a british colony? And even now that they’re independent, they still consider Queen Elizabeth II as their head of state. Jamaica is a democracy, but is not the same as the one in the United States. Instead of all the congressmen being elected, the senators in Jamaica are appointed, which means the public doesn’t have a say in who some of their representatives are. The Prime Minister in Jamaica, Portia Simpson-Miller, is really important. After all, she is the head of the government! Now, are you looking for somewhere to go for winter spring or summer break? If so, head to Jamaica, it's’ beautiful beaches will attract tourists from anywhere. In fact, tourism is 30% of Jamaica's’ GDP, and every year about 1 million tourists come from all over the world to visit. Jamaica’s most popular cities to go to are Kingston, Montego Bay, and Ocho Rios. Jamaica is also a popular stop for cruises. All in all, Jamaica is by far, the best country to go to, research, and talk about, because of its unique and interesting qualities.

My country is Kenya. Kenya is only the east coast of Africa and its capital is Nairobi. I learned a lot about Kenya. In my blog you will about the government, daily life, arts and language of Kenya. The leader of Kenya is, Uhuru Kenyatta and they have a Republic Government. The two houses of the legislative branch are the Senate and the National Assembly. Food is a huge part of every country’s daily life! In Kenya they have some very cool foods that you might not know about! Some foods are ugali, uji, mazadi, githeri, chapati, and sukuma wiki. One famous band in Kenya is Kamatana. Music is a big part of Kenya and kids start to learn music when they are very young. I can’t imagine going to music school or learning music as soon as I could walk! Fashion is also a huge part of Kenya. A khanga, kitenge, gorfa, and a shuka. The two official languages in Kenya are Swahili and English. Africans call Swahili, Kiswahili and it is spoken all over the world. I loved learning about Kenya and I hope to learn much more! My country is Brazil. Brazil is a country that is located in South America and is surrounded by Bolivia, Perú, Venezuela, Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina. Also, Brazil is the largest country in the continent of South America. From all the research of the eight traits of culture, I learned about the President and the capital city of Brazil. The current leader of the country is President Dilma Rousseff, and she is the first female president in Brazil. The capital city is Brasilia. It is one of the biggest cities in Brazil and is also the world's leading example of the large scale city planning. In my opinion, I thought that fashion, which is one of the categories of daily life, was interesting. I learned that Brazilians were very fashionable and they like to dress according to the latest trends. I also thought that it was very interesting that they wear different colored or different types of clothes in different areas. In urban areas, people wear brand clothing. In humid regions, people wear casual clothes that are generally light or brightly colored. In Sao Paulo and other parts that are in the southern region, people usually wear clothes that are black, white, or any other neutral colors. For business wear, stylish suites or skirts with jackets are common. Manicure and pedicure are also popular.

My country is China and it is located in Asia. China is very different from America. Chinese dance is very similar to dance in America. Chinese dance has been around for 5,000 years. They practice leaps, turns, and flips.Emotion can be shown through Chinese dance. The dancers look very flexible and well trained. The president of China is Xi Jinping. He has no tolerance towards corrupt officials. He started out as a vice president, and wanted to bring China to its rightful place in the world.I don’t think he is a very good president because he only cares about China. He doesn’t care about any of the other countries in the world as much as he should. chinese food is very popular. China is in the top three places with the best food in the world. Many people travel to China partly to eat their different food, and also because there are many things to do. Whenever I eat Chinese food, it tastes different than American food.
